I would like to present a complete novelty in the field of laboratory roasters FZ94 from Coffee-tech. We already know some finesse from laboratory roasters around the world (Probat BRZ, Diedrich, San Franciscan SF-1), but some parameters in the roasting process are a world first, in this case brought to series production and I can not wait for the first piece in the Czech Republic to opportunities to try all the factors affecting the roasting process, as described by the manufacturer, it looks like I will play and play and if I do not die, I will play tomorrow ...

The FZ-94 was designed with the help of roasters around the world. Their comments allowed the creation of a unique coffee roaster, which offers complete control over the roasting process while maintaining user-friendly operations, has a small size, functional design and excellent roasting results in a given capacity range. The roasting power range of the FZ-94 is anything from 100 grams to 2.4 kg. With this machine you will be able to experiment in the whole spectrum of roasting factors. The FZ-94 uses unique roasting methods - infrared, conduction and convection - all at the same time and in the same drum. The manufacturer of the FZ-94 implanted variable speeds not only in the roasting drum, but
also for the vent blower. These features allow the user to bring the finest roasting adjustments using digital drives to a successful taste. Three strong, individually controlled el. resistance coils produce clean, stable and consistent heating. Individual control over each of the three radiators
allows you to use a wide range of energy for all given conditions and capacities.
Temperature control is realized thanks to three individual digital probes and PID controllers located:
- in the roasting drum area, where the resistance spirals are activated / deactivated
- for flue gas exhaust for air temperature monitoring
- in the roasted grain space, to determine the current grain temperature at all times
The icing on the cake is the possibility of connection with PC roasting management software, developed by the manufacturer, from there it is enough to move the recorded data on the best possible settings of all parameters to the R-45, and suddenly an industrial operation tuned in the laboratory.
I will bring practical roasting results in the next article about this device, its design directly encourages thinking about: how the variable balance between conduction and radiation manifests itself, how the changing speed of the roasting drum - the slower rotating drum allows the grain longer contact with the drum material, faster rotating the drum in turn allows the grain to come into contact with hot air. So roasting becomes a little more fun, so there's no choice but to try, test and taste the results.
