ORIGIN

Arturo Tuy is a second-generation coffee farmer from the community of San Antonio Palopo near Lake Atitlan in Guatemala. He is committed to implementing sustainable practices on his farm and mill, including monitoring and managing the by-products of coffee processing to prevent pollution of the lake and surrounding areas. The coffee batch named Vista al Lago is inspired by the beautiful views of Lake Atitlan. Arturo plans to further improve the quality of the coffee he produces on his farm and mill.

VARIETIES

Pache: Pache is native to Guatemala and is known for its resistance to disease. It has a fine acidity and a rich flavor profile with notes of fruit and flowers.

Caturra: Caturra is a popular variety originally from Brazil. It has compact trees and high fertility. It offers a sweet taste with notes of chocolate, fruit and nuts. Bourbon: Bourbon is a historical coffee variety. It has a full flavor and a balanced profile with notes of caramel, chocolate and fruit. It is valued for its quality and rich aroma.

CULTIVATION

Arturo Tuy carefully cultivates coffee on his farm at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level. The altitude, together with the climatic conditions of the Atitlan region, provides an ideal environment for the slow and balanced ripening of coffee cherries. Arturo follows sustainable practices and monitors the impact of his cultivation on the surrounding environment to ensure high quality coffee and nature conservation.

PROCESSING

Coffee is processed using the washed method. This process involves carefully removing the outer layer of the fruit, fermentation and then washing the beans, which are then dried in the sun until they reach the right moisture. Thanks to this process, a balanced taste and a clean coffee profile are achieved
